Students and families across District 202 are receiving essential supplies and personal care items thanks to a generous donation from TR Miller Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical.
On Friday, October 24, 2025, TR Miller donated 94 backpacks to District 202’s Care Closet, which provides resources to students and families experiencing hardship.
Each backpack was filled with a variety of school supplies, personal care items, and other essentials, helping students focus on learning without worrying about basic needs.
“At TR Miller, giving back is one of our core values,” said Marin Tillman of TR Miller. “Plainfield is our home, and being part of this community means showing up for each other.”
Tillman expressed how starting the school year with the right tools can make a substantial difference for students and families.
“This donation is our way of helping kids feel ready, confident, and excited to learn,” she said.
District 202 Health Services Director Christina Edwards, who oversees the Care Closet, emphasized the immediate impact on students and families.
“We are incredibly grateful to TR Miller for their generous support,” Edwards said. “Contributions like this make a real difference for our students and families and show the power of our community coming together to help those in need.”
Launched in 2024, the Care Closet provides District 202 students with access to clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items during times of need. The program relies entirely on donations from local businesses and community members.
