Programs and Services

Preschool Program
Children 3-5 years of age may attend the preschool program upon parent registration.  Tuition for the 5-day a week program is $250.00 per month.  Tuition for the 3-day a week program is $200.00 per month, and tuition for the 2-day a week program is $150.00 per month.  Tuition is paid on the first school day of the month for the following month’s tuition.  Children attend either a morning or afternoon session Monday thru Friday (5-day program), Monday/Wednesday/Friday (3-Day program), and Tuesday/Thursday (2-day program).   Children must be 3 years of age as of September 1st of the current year to be eligible to attend.  Registration is done by a lottery.  If openings are still available after the lottery registration, they will be available on a first come, first serve basis.  A waiting list is kept for enrollment throughout the current school year. 

Preschool for All Program
Children 3-5 years of age may attend this preschool program.  This program, provided through a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education, will serve children who demonstrate a delay in one or more areas of development including cognitive, social emotional, speech and language, or physical.  Children must also have certain identified risk factors that may impact academic success.  Additional children may be served in the program based on federal income guidelines.  Children are eligible for placement within this type of classroom upon determination at the screening.  Children must be 3 years of age as of September 1st of the current year to be eligible to attend.  This program runs 5 days a week based on the District 202 calendar.  This program also contains a home visit component.

Resource Services
Children may be eligible to receive single or multiple resource level services as identified on an Individualized Education Program (IEP).  Services may include:  physical therapy, occupational therapy, vision services, hearing services, social work services, or speech therapy (see above).  Children may be enrolled as a tuition paying preschool student and receive resource services either during their preschool time with written parent permission or at a separate time.

Integrated Early Childhood Instructional Program
Children 3-5 years of age who have specialized instructional needs requiring a more intense level of programming are enrolled as early childhood students.  Children are placed within a preschool classroom containing a maximum of 10 regular education students and 6 special needs/instructional level students.  These students do not require a more restricted or self-contained level of service and will have the opportunity to learn from peers within the classroom.  These children have been found eligible to receive specialized, instructional level services through an Individualized Education Program (IEP).  This program runs 5 days (½ day sessions) a week based on the District 202 calendar.  Children are eligible for placement within this type of classroom upon determination of eligibility or once the child is 3 years of age, whichever occurs last.  There is a one-time registration fee (per school year) for this program.

Hearing Impaired Program
This program is for individuals with hearing impairment.  Services provided allow children to learn vocabulary, language, and listening skills in an environment that includes instructional time in an early childhood classroom setting as well as in a class devoted to students with hearing impairments.  A range of services is provided depending on the child’s individual needs.  A continuum of services is available ranging from consultative services to one-on-one direct instruction. 

Self-contained Early Childhood Instructional Program
Some children may require a more intensive instructional program than could be provided within an integrated classroom.  These children attend a specialized classroom which provides focused instruction in multiple areas.  These children attend the program 5 days per week and may attend up to 5 hours per day.  This level of service may be recommended for some children with multiple service needs or some children that have been identified with autism.  It is the goal of this program to provide opportunities for the children to transition out of the self-contained classroom and participate with regular education peers once this is deemed beneficial by the educational team.  Children may be transitioned out of this program fully once their needs no longer require this intense level of service.
