In 1984 ,I began teaching at St. Patrick School in Joliet after graduating from the College of St. Francis (now University of St. Francis) in Joliet with dual degrees in English Literature and Education. I began working for the Plainfield School District at Central Elementary in 1992 teaching 5th grade. I later moved to Timber Ridge Middle School, in 1996 teaching 8th grade Language Arts. When Drauden Point opened in 2002, I had already obtained a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University and another teaching endorsement in library science. I left the classroom at that point to create and open the Drauden Point LRC. I have continued my education while being the librarian, obtaining another master's degree (MLIS Degree) in Library Science and Information Services from Olivet Nazarene University in 2012, as well as another endorsement in Computer Applications. Besides being the librarian, I have coached cheerleading for over 30 years, just retiring the 2017-18 school year, and am currently the National Junior Honor Society Adviser.
