This is from the Joliet Public Library. Each year, many of our students participate in their summer reading program. It will occur but just look a little different. See below

We would love for you to help us promote reading over the summer. We have updated our brochure to reflect a few changes (no extra points for visiting the library this summer, sadly!), and Amanda has put together a video just saying hello and telling people about the summer reading challenge.  It would be great if principals can encourage families to join the program or even just use the library over the summer!  We are all working together to combat that summer slide.

Here is the video:   https://youtu.be/CV74aFec7Cc

Attached is the updated brochure that can be sent out to families or posted in the virtual backpack.  The website for signing up is https://jolietlibrary.org/en/events/summerreading

People are also unsure about how to use the library over the summer, which I understand!  Starting on June 1st, everyone can pick up materials at the Ottawa Street Branch and the Black Road Branch.  You just need to place a hold through our computer system or give us a call and we will pull any book you want--and we will be happy to suggest new books to fit your interests!  We can put together a mystery bundle so your family can find new books to love.  If you don't already have a library card, you can register online--even if you are in an unincorporated area.  These digital cards will be good all summer long!  For more information, visit  https://jolietlibrary.org/index.php/en/get-a-library-card

(The website currently says the cards are good through July 6, but that will be updated soon to indicate that it will be good all summer.
